I make it a point to visit this Chart House at least twice each season. The location and ambiance are hard to beat and the food, whether surf or turf based, has been consistently good and served by a very friendly and attentive wait staff. They have always had a decent selection of wines and the salad bar is second to none. I would suggest making reservations and plan to arrive early if you'd like to have window seating.

I despise this place! Bad service! Mediocre food! High prices! Waited half hour for a glass of wine with 6 other people at table. Waiter brings all drinks on a tray and spills them on 3 people. It takes another half hour to get drinks. Another half hour to get food. screwed up! Food mediocre. Will never go back again.

If you're looking for a hidden gem to celebrate or have a romantic evening, Chart house is your special place. This review is based on several visits here and the standard of service, hospitality, fresh foods, savory dishes and variety has always delivered. I have yet to have a negative experience here, both with or without reservations. Dinner here is spectacular, of course I find it practically a sin to order steak where seafood seems to be the specialty or let's face it, the point of the meal. It's like visiting the Oprah show and settling for an autograph with Stedman . Pretty lame and not the point. That being said...I ordered a steak which was delicately rubbed and grilled to perfection (Medium). Off with the soup the lobster bisque is worth risking my shellfish-prone allergies to. (Non life threatening this far) But hey if I'll go down, it'll be eating a lobster like a trooper. I sacrifice myself every time for the thick, creamy sauce with chunks of delicate sweet lobster meat tossed in with a nice little kick that makes your tummy feel warm. Next, please don't pass up the lobster/crab cheese dip. Yes please and thank you. You're given them in a baked, hot ramiken with home made crustini bread that has been toasted and butter with an emulsified garlic which are crispy enough to dip and handle but crunchy enough to make the first contact with your lips and then follow orders to melt in your mouth. These are decadent and enough to go around as a nibble between 2-4 guests. But be warned you probably won't want to share. The scallops, the pasta, the grouper...oh, my! (Lions and tigers and bears) it's equally frightening because everything sounds so delicious. So let me put you at ease, there's really no going wrong in this category. Get something you feel safe with, if you're nauticaly-apprehensive. Otherwise, treat yo self! Pick something and sit back to know your fate awaits you on a hot plate in your near future. Save room for their Godiva Chocolate cake. I'm personally not a fan of sweets (I rather save those precious calories for alcohol) but I can't forfeit a little somethin' somethin' here. It's so creamy, moist and not overly sweet with still managing to make you feel like you didn't deserve what just hit your lips. Boom! Magic. So last but not least...my favorite part is sitting at a table next to the window enjoy the view of the extravagant yachts in the short distance, but more so watching the ultimate show of the day: the sunset. The interior is a little "cruise director-ish" but surrounded by Windows, an elegant chandelier that makes the interior glow and you feel an intimate vibe here. Cocktails are a must. I cannot tell you how much of a disappointment it is to find a great restaurant with a stingy bar. Or one whom serves and offers such mediocre sub par cocktails. This one however, always delivers. Although I'm a female, I don't gravitate towards "girly" drinks. I take my scotch neat, my martinis dirty and with Gin and my Mules Moscowed. All in all, I've always had the royal treatment here, I've celebrated my parents anniversarys here where with a call-aheads up they've printed my parents names and anniversary year on the menu and have had it placed at the table with the best view all without me having to harass them. Come to the Chart house only in a moment when you can indulge yourself, let the time stand still and most of all folks: do yourself the favor of being present in the moment. Put the phone away, enjoy the ambience, your date, your friends etc and have a good meal cause you deserve it.

Came here for drinks and dinner to celebrate a good friends birthday. We had reservations for 7:30 PM and everyone arrived on time we had requested a table for eight near a window overlooking the harbor. The table we wanted wasn't available so we decided to wait and walked downstairs to the bar. We grabbed a couple of high top tables and a cocktail. I ordered my usual Ketel One Martini a little dirty up with a trio of olives and wasn't disappointed. After about 30 minutes of enjoying our cocktails and walking out on the deck overlooking the water we were summoned our table was ready. We were seated exactly where we had requested and then greeted by our server (she did an excellent job) for a second round of drinks and a few bottle of choice wines we started with a nice Pinot Noir and had a few bottles of Cabernet opened for our dinner, lucky one of our friends is our wine guy at any outing and his selection as always was spot on. We all ordered salads or appetizers I choice to build my own at the salad bar and it was a great choice since the selection is fresh and there are lots of options. After a toast of champagne to honor our friend we placed our dinner orders there are lots of great choices but the Alaskan Halibut was calling out to me, now for the reason for the three star review which is very disappointing since the evening was definitely building up to an easy five star review evening. No only was my Alaskan Halibut ($37.00) extremely small (see picture attached) it was destroyed on the grill it was so dried out it was disgusting well if you have been paying attention we had already been here quite awhile and I wasn't going to spoil the evening by sending my entree back being the wait for our dinners took quite awhile as it was. Everyone else seemed to be pleased and I was fortunate that I was offered to share a piece of the Blackened Red Snapper served at the table. That confirmed that I ordered badly. I will return and I will formally and tactfully complaint about this experience and I certainly will order safe :-)

The food was amazing. Everything we tasted was fantastic and we are very picky eaters. The lobster bisque was great. The calamari was to die for. The blue point oysters were great. Everything we ate was really good. The view was amazing and we lived the atmosphere. It's beautiful. Upscale. You watch all the yachts come in as you eat. Again the calamari was to die for. It was pricey by we knew that before we went.

Came with a work colleague for a dinner and was not disappointed. Drinks I had a Dirty Martini with Blue Cheese Olives and it as perfect. The olives where great. My colleague had a Mango Mohito or 3. He loved it, said it was one of the best Mohito's he has ever had. Starters. Oysters, blue point. Fresh clean and fantastic Lobster Bisk. A little salty and lacking lobster but not too bad. Main course. Tuna, cooked perfect and quality grade Tuna. Served with wasabi mashed which where also very good. Port Glazed Grouper, a little over cooked but good with the sauce. The highlight of this dish was the Gorgonzola Risotto. I think i could take a bath in that stuff Overall a good meal for moderate price.

Overall: Great view, slow service, average food, overpriced Context: Grew up in Daytona eating here, traveled to NY, Chicago, Houston, Miami over the years. Returned for Mother's Day dinner. Have had friends who worked here. This is a chain restaurant. Hosting: Overstaffed. Four people doing what one person should be able to. As others have mentioned, even if you have reservations, their 'goal' is to have you seated within 15 minutes of your check-in. Service: Exceedingly slow. The first hello didn't come for 5 mins, drinks 10 mins later, bread 10 mins later, appetizers, meals, etc... Overall experience was 3.5 hours. I guess it's supposed to be an upscale restaurant so your supposed to take you're time. There were two servers splitting about 8 tables, which comprised 4 to 8 people. This is extremely understaffed for the class of restaurant they are trying to be. Ambiance: This place sits on the water where boats/yachts dock so you can have the people wearing shorts and beach shirts, to people going to prom, next to a family with young children running around. Keep in mind that you are in Florida in a beach city so there are plenty of retired couples and tourists as well. Food: The salad bar is $15 alone or $9 dollars with your meal. Think elaborate Ruby Tuesdays. The calamari and friends was fresh and interesting with the random chips and fried peppers that it included. I have always gotten the Prime Rib which I enjoyed Medium Rare - think overpriced Outback. We also had the beef medallions that was overcooked and too salty. It was returned and grilled salmon was ordered which took about 15 additional minutes. This was unfortunately overcooked as well, but we gave up and the manager didn't seem to mind. They didn't charge for the steak, but didn't comp the fish. The chocolate lava cake has changed with more chocolate on the outside than the inside, nothing spectacular for $11. I go here for the memories, but chances are if you are reading this as a foodie you are going to be disappointed. Just manage your expectations.

You cannot go wrong with this place. My husband and I went here a couple of a day's after our wedding and we loved it. It is pricey, but that's kind of a given. The calamari here is the BEST calamari I've ever had and calamari is normally my go to appetizer at seafood restaurants. And the Caesar salad was very good too! Something as simple as a Caesar salad here was one of the bests I've had.

Pretty darn poor. Chèvre mushroom bruschetta was without chèvre. It was mushrooms on burnt bread with balsamic. Duck confit was dry. As one of the fattiest meats, duck should never be dry. Coconut shrimp was butterfly shrimp with a coconut crust. Caesar salad dressing had so much raw garlic, it burnt our tongues. Balsamic dressing was very mediocre. Worst of all, lava cake was burnt on the bottom and cooked all the way through. No lava flow. Drinks were good. Linguine with shrimp was good. Scallops were good. Overall, very over priced. 4 people, $150 after the bill was adjusted for poor food. Great art!! Nice ambiance.

Was so hoping the three stars was a few disgruntled folks messing up the better reviews but it could not have been more accurate. This place has a couple of good things to mention - our wonderful waiter Robert and the pretty view. And a lovely cook who saw me confused when I was at the salad bar who helped me figure out the salad dressings and explained each. And some major challenges. It started with our arriving early and asking for a table by the window. The place was nearly empty since it was a weekday and pouring out. We went downstairs to have a drink in what felt like a dungeon. What a whacky bar. Hmmm, let's position ALL the bottles against the window so you have no view? Who designed this place? We then came back up, only to be seated....not by a window. It was fine though and we just sat down. Later, they sat another group next to us who complained ....and were put by a window. Annoying. Most important - the place needs a major update. I felt like I walked into an 80s flashback. Very dated decor. And awkward layout with the bar downstairs. It just feels tired. We are spoiled coming from NY but this really was not the upscale night we were hoping for. The food was ok. My husband and I had the NY Strip and it tasted like we could have been at Outback. Just ok. Not bad. But nothing special. Both were cooked to our liking. Just didn't seem like high quality. And my mother in law ordered the salmon. She was the one we were trying to treat to a nice night out. She would never go on her own to a place like this and we wanted her to have a nice night. And she had....bones in her fish. To the point where we had to tell the waiter. I felt horrible. We never do that. But she was at the point where she was breaking up her fish to make sure she didn't bite into another. Our waiter was awesome and right away had another fish ordered. But the manager came over to deliver it and didn't say a word. I couldn't believe it. No "I'm so sorry that happened, the next drink is on us." Nothing. He was like a meek sheep placing it in front of her and skulking away. What a disappointment. This is a fancy night out? The lava cake we shared was very good. Not Mortons good but decent. And that was it. We won't return. I should have listened to my fellow Yelpers.

Over-rated and over-priced. Lobster bisque was very good, Nice fresh bread. Wine list out of date. We asked for 2011 or 2012 vintage and they kept bringing 2013 for same price (rip off). Baked stuffed shrimp was dry and shrimp were very small for the price. You are paying for the view. Prefer Stonewood Grill in Ormond Beach - great food and better prices.

Our steak was the only thing worth our $98 tab. Drinks were not made right and watery, food was rated maybe 5 out of 10. Not sure what's going on I'm this are for food and terrible servers but this isn't for us.

I so enjoyed this restaurant! We went here last night to celebrate my boyfriend's grad school graduation, and it was awesome. The service was excellent and the menus were even specially printed with a congratulatory message for Rob on the top. We had a few appetizers to start with, all delicious. We tried the tuna appetizer, the tempura lobster lollipops, and some clam chowder. All were delicious...the lobster was very tender and came with a tangy soy-sauce based dipping sauce. The clam chowder was chock full of potatoes and clams, so you're definitely getting your money's worth there! What sold me on this place was the Snapper Hemingway. Oh, my lord. Parmesan crusted, tender fish served with a lemon butter sauce. I felt compelled to eat the entire thing. It was that amazing. I would definitely recommend getting that if you dine here. The only thing I didn't like was that I ordered mashed potatoes instead of the rice the meal came with, and I didn't care for them at all. They were dry and fairly tasteless. But in this case, it just left more room for that amazing snapper. Finally, we had the lava cake for dessert. A warm chocolate lava cake with a Godiva chocolate liquor center, served with Heath bar crunch and ice cream. You have to order it 30 minutes ahead of time, but it is worth it. Our server told us about it before our entree and we ordered it then, so we didn't really have to wait at all. It is so worth saving room for! Overall, I ate waaaaaayyyy too much delicious food and I would come here again!

Was excited to come here with my old man. Food was solid albeit pricey. Issue was the service - our waitress was solely focused on up selling. I don't typically mind that but she did it in an insincere matter - didn't disclose what was included and what wasn't Took 20 mins to get wine, we sat there with our fish waiting for it. Potential but didn't reach it

Daytona is not a restaurant town and the Chart House is about as good as it gets -- which isn't a bad thing at all. I try to eat here whenever I'm in Daytona. So it's a chain restaurant; at this level who would notice? The room is elegant with pleasant water views. The service is excellent and well-trained, just missing the final leap into European or New York perfection. The fish is fresh and the menu choices reasonably creative. In this last excursion I had a crabmeat stack with mango and avocado for my appetizer, lobster francaise, and a key line pie for dessert. My friends had the prime rib and a selection of different shrimp preparations for their entrees. The proprietor visited our table and had an informed and friendly discussion with one friend about the proper preparation of a "Gold Manhattan." Robert our waiter was attentive, friendly, and attractive -- the three things I look for in good service. We left sated, with that mild glow that comes from a good dinner with convivial friends in pleasant surroundings.

Went here with my girlfriend the other night, all in all I'd have to say it was pretty good, though not quite worth the price if I had to say (though it was the lady that paid!! :) We started with drinks at the downstairs bar. The gin & tonic/rum & coke were overpriced and weak. Appetizer came next, we got the soup sampler with like a 3 ounce portion of 3 different soups. For an idea of how big 3 ounces is, it's 2 shotglasses worth of 3 different soups AKA not very much. That being said the soup was delicious (lobster bisque, NE clam chowder, and some kind of cold tomato soup I've never had that tasted like salsa almost). Next up was the entrees. I had seared ahi tuna in wasabi and ginger sauce with wasabi mashed potatoes. The tuna was amazing, tender and cooked perfectly. The wasabi was a nice, spicy touch...all around excellent. As for the mashed potatoes, I am an Irish traditionalist, and they were much too clumpy for me. I could have picked up the whole pile in one scoop, they were very dry and sticky. The wasabi taste was pretty good, though. The lady had steak (sirloin, I think), which was very tender and moist; very good overall. Her steak came with garlic mashed potatoes, I thought they were very dry as well, though she seemed to like them. Dinner portions were perfect, we weren't too stuffed nor were we hungry at the end. Atmosphere was nice, the decor was very dark and warm, a little noisy but pretty good. Not very good views of the marina but that's OK. All in all, the food was delicious but not worth the price I don't think.

Can't go wrong with the salad bar even though it is expensive. Crab cakes and other seafood were good. Prime rib, while nicely seasoned, was not cooked properly. Requested very rare and received medium. This was probably the result of the server letting the food sit. Service was extremely slow. We had to have the bill adjusted due to several ordered items never being delivered.

I went just for drinks as the sun was falling. The view was lovely. The price of a single glass of wine was decent (we just left another place where the wine was awful) I looked over the menu was stunned at the prices. Wow. Needless to say, I stuck to my glass of wine. I use to work for Chart House 10 years ago in another city. When I walked in this night the decor was still the same-as I never left. Chart House needs desperately to update it's look. The view goes black when the sun goes and your suddenly surrounded by old 80's decor. I will never eat here as I'm not paying for those prices but to go on a date and have wine is great.

Ok, I love the nut encrusted mahi. But their salad bar has gone from fabulous to "meh" over the last several years. And skip this place for Thanksgiving -- We made that mistake a few years ago. The food was NOT good. Don't know what went wrong. The setting is beautiful. The staff is professional. But it's kind of weird to hear, "Chef XXX is preparing...blah blah blah," when you know all Chart Houses serve the same stuff. So, what's with the pretense that this is an individually owned restaurant with its own chef who creates his/her own signature dishes? Baloney! But my real reason for the 2 stars is that my husband and I went there and spent $161 for dinner. Sorry -- I expect A LOT more for that kind of bill and will happily drive up to St. Augustine to one of their fancier restaurants and pay much less for a better meal. Never again. Sorry, CH.

Loved everything about the place. I have eaten at better restaurants but I can't say anything bad about Chart House. The staff was friendly and warm. The atmosphere is inviting and enjoyable. I usually don't like salads but their salad bar is great. I ordered the prime rib and it was amazing. I would highly recommend it. It was a very quick and convenient dinner. Didn't take too long to get food and wasn't too quick either. Price is reasonable if you can make the early bird menu. Not sure what the cut off time is. Our server even split our kids food onto two separate plates for us. (That's huge if you have multiple children). Can't say enough good things.

I give Chart House one star for the lovely view of the water, one star for the darling wait staff. The fish I ordered was supposed to be fresh, was obviously frozen. When one needs a steak knife to cut through the bottom crust of a fish fillet, the fish is not freshly prepared. At the end of the meal we were propositioned to purchase a rewards type dining card. Not exactly classy. If you want to sample the chocolate lava cake with a nice ambiance, go. If you want a fresh fish meal, avoid Chart House.

Beautiful atmosphere overlooking the marina and water. The wine was excellent and the food was very good! I loved every moment in this restaurant. I especially loved the decor, it had a beautiful chandelier in the middle of the restaurant reflecting light. I would definitely go here again. It is a little bit more pricey, but if you don't mind paying a little more for great quality food and ambiance then its worth it. I was very satisfied.

Great views, nice salad and fruit bar, amazing prime rib, decent wine list and a relaxed comfortable atmosphere. We always look forward to this place when in town. Never had a bad meal. Once had a terrible waitress. Part of Landry's so we can earn and redeem Landry's points there. We are huge Morton's fans so we love the points. Far better than the Fort Lauderdale location which we also frequent.

Let me start with why 3 stars and not 5: we spent $150 for two people on the following 3 well cocktails, 1 glass of $7 wine, 1 app, 2 entrees (mahi & grouper), 1 dessert, and tip. If this had cost $80 I would say it was great or if we had ordered lobster with truffles I'd say great but in the end it was overpriced for the sake of it being overpriced. The good: service was perfect, dining room was elegant, nut crusted mahi mahi was perfect The bad: bronzed grouper was overcooked and served with uncle bens rice, stuffed mushroom app was only ok, My advice is to skip it until they lower the price entrees to around $18 to $22 (now everything is around $30 to $35)

This place really doesn't need my review... good or bad, but I will give it anyway like most opinionated people feel an obligation to do... it was great. Considering that most peoples expectation is for it to be great based on price, i have to say that best part was service and the unassuming demeanour of the staff. I would have expected them to be uppity or edgy and it was lovely.

Do you ever get the feeling that as a restaurant chain gets larger they drift towards average (or sub-par: Fridays, Olive Garden, etc)? Well the Chart House is dangerously approaching this fate. Don't get me wrong - excellent service and overall good food. Unfortunately, for the price of the meal, they weren't good enough. Tiny details in service were lacking, the salt under the oysters was dyed blue (gimmicky), the giant bay window with condensation between the panes was off-putting, and the lava cake was dry and unappealing.

What an excellent restaurant! Everything is impeccable! I would compare it quality wise, to Ruth's Chris, or Morton's. They make you feel like a valued guest!

The Chart House has always been a place to go for a special event. If you arrive by boat the dock hands are very helpful with tying up. If coming by car the parking area is very angled and may challenge some with mobility issues (drop them off at the door). One special thing they will do that I did not see in a review is to print a personalized menu up for your event. I scheduled a birthday dinner for one of my children here and they printed her name and Happy Birthday on the top of all of our menus. Very cool! The atmosphere is great and feels like a yacht club. The out door seating is also very nice but you will have to walk up the stairs to get to the salad bar. Speaking of the Salad Bar this I think is my favorite thing. At $16.99 on its own or $ 8.50 with an entree, you have to have it. The rest of the items on the menu have all been very good. The prices are that of a yacht club as well but if it is a special occasion it is worth it. Since it is in florida and on the water you will not feel out of place if you showed up in shorts and deck shoes or a suit.

I'm going to keep this very short because in summary Chart House is expensive, meant to impress and luxuriate. It's as if you're the cat in those fancy feast commercials and you are eating the finest foods. It's the money you spend that leads you to believe it is the best tuna EVER. Really though? It's pretty good on select menu items, but NOT every item. The cocktails? Go broke or go home. I paid my $10 bucks for tasty liquor and didn't regret it. It was better than dessert, in fact come to think of it my drink did actually kind of taste like a dessert. Appetizers? I did the best of soup. 3 soups and 2 were heavy on cream, the other was a chilled gazpacho. It was a good sampler but that's about it....just good to sample. Entree? Best of shrimp. The fried coconut shrimp lacked a coconut taste and seemed more fried shrimp than anything. The dipping sauce was a nice addition to taste though. The entree was a 3.5 and honestly, forgettable. I can't remember much more about it by the time it came time for my review. What does stick in mind was the atmosphere. Staff from the wait staff to the bartender were pros. The view while sitting with my friend was beautiful.

Macadamia Crusted MahiMahi....winner! This dish is just to die for. There is just enough crunch, some peanut flavors in the sauce (but not overwhelming), the fish cooked perfectly. The side are Asian style green beans that I would pay money to get the recipe. They are soooo good. I of course got the salad bar...because you can't go to the Chart house and not have the salad bar. Their Caesar is to die for. They even have Caviar on it. It is definitely one heck of a salad bar. My boyfriend got a Mango Mojito, which was really sweet but to be expected. Still pretty yummy. He also started with the Lobster Bisque, which was my second favorite thing behind my fish. They lace it with Sherry and it doesn't taste fishy...it's killer. For his dinner he got the Snapper Hemingway. The fish was a touch dry but the crust was so yummy with the lump crab on top. It was really delicious. You also can't beat a view of the water with all the big yachts. I always look forward to special date nights at the Chart House.

I've eaten here a handful of times and they have all been good experiences, not great. Tonight's dinner was ok, I did have some issues though. I really like the salad bar, it's worth the extra 9 bucks to me, but that house dressing has way too much garlic in it - it's a date-ruiner for sure. How bout some more dressing choices? I ordered the Meyer Lemon Grouper and it was totally bland and dry, plus I thought it was overpriced at 36 bucks. I don't mind paying premium for good ambiance, and great food but tonight's experience missed the mark. Steaks have usually been a good choice. Desserts are pretty consistent too.

Sat outside the weather was perfect full moon Megan was our server she was great told us about the chocolate lava cake which we ordered. salad bar was fabulous Megan also made a Caesar salad for my son at the salad bar. Roger the manager was very congenial, Meagan told us about a great "spring" blue river state park which we went to the next day. My girlfriend is a nurse and a lot of the people from Halifax eat at the chart house for their meetings and it's always good too...

I had the Baja Mahi special and it was delicious. The appetizers, meal, and dessert were all fantastic. My boyfriend enjoyed the Long Island Ice Teas and said it was one of the best drinks he's ever had. The shrimp Brie and artichoke dip is fantastic. My boyfriend ordered the encrusted red snapper and raved about that. I never would have guessed that this place was a chain. Bring your checkbook though as it is a bit pricey, but well worth it.

First off let me state this review is based on many dining experiences that I've had here. The positives are food is always great and the wait staff is very professional. The view is the best in Daytona. The parking is always easy and convenient. The restaurant is always clean and very well maintained. The negatives: Starting with hostess stand, no matter how many occupants are in the restaurant the hostess will always ask you to have a seat to wait on your table, regardless if you have reservations or not. The atmosphere of the restaurant always feels tense and the wait staff seem nervous. It seems to me like the staff has somebody always on their back watching for mistakes. On my last particular reservation I requested a window seat, upon arrival it appeared there were plenty of window seats available but once again our request wasn't accommodated. When seated the hostess never mentioned our request in order to explain why we not able to have a window seat. In my honest opinion for the money that it cost to eat here the restaurant just doesn't live up to expectations. A majority of the negatives of this restaurant could be resolved by management taking a more active role in how the customer is treated. Because of the great food and the limited fine dining choices in Daytona Beach, each time we go back, we continue to hope the dining experience will improve.

The Chart House was great 10 years ago. But like the Blue Note in NYC, this place is way past its prime and has become an over priced rip off. I used to be a regular here but quit coming beacuse, while the seafood was always good, they couldnt cook a streak right on a consistent basis. My request was always a rare filet (surf n turf) It would come out medium and id send it back. Then theyd come back wit a piece of meat that was almost raw. Id always end up getting it removed from my bill without ever taking a bite. After a couple of business meetings and a 20th anniversery meal that were subpar, i swore this place off. Fast foward to this evening and decided i would give it anorher try. Unfortunately, i found the experience to be worse than the last time i was there almost 10 years ago. This place is running on fumes. If you want to blow extreme dollars on a meal that is no better than some of the local places for 1/3 the price then go ahead. Otherwise, make a drive to the nearest Ruth Chris, Ocean Prime, etc.... this place is a wanna be when it comes to that level of competition. Trys to play in the same sandbox but....not even close I'll not give it anothet look....and I'm a former fan and local resident. 9

Location: excellent. Building; charming. Sat quickly with a nice view. The food had potential. But the service was very spotty. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgable. But was missing for long periods of time. The food was decent but luke warm to cold. We sent one back and wolfed down the other. Disappointing.

Went to the Chart House last night with a group and was given the Early Bird menu, which I have to say is pretty limited. We were told to go to the salad bar and then the waitress would take our orders. Following eating my salad, I really didn't think I could eat a full dinner, so I just ordered soup, which was delicious. When my bill came I saw that the salad was $16.99. Questioning the waiter about it, he commented that it was unlimited and I could have had more. Nobody infomed me that a salad would have cost that much, or I would have ordered a dinner and brought it home. I was pretty upset, to say the least. I will not be visiting the Chart House again.

We have been to this chain in Virginia. Not a fan there and not a fan here. This place was close to our B&B so we walked here to catch their happy hour outdoor by the downstairs bar. Tried the hummus (warning- hard chewy pita), chicken pita (warning- hard chewy pita), chicken lettuce cup (too sweet sauces). God awful but I was starving so I ate what little I could suffice. The first table we sat at had an ant farm crawling all over it. The server kept saying that they will close that table off, but there were still people sitting down and then realizing there were ants and then got up to move multiple times. The waitress was a little clueless but it doesn't matter to us since we won't be coming back during our trip. One star for the happy hour prices and another for their outdoor atmosphere.

Here we are, six months later. From the airport we went straight to the Chart House, as the food there has been generally reliable and that's what we were hankering for. This time (as has sometimes happened in the past) the service was not so good. When I asked for real butter "which I know they have" (last time the waitress tried to tell me they didn't have any and when I sent her to the chef ah-ha, they did indeed) ~~~ she said okay and the butter arrived 15+ minutes after my served barely tepid baked potato, which is usually very large at Chart House, this time it was puny. She didn't come around at all to ask us how everything was. There seemed to be only one other table she was waiting on and they were getting a lot of attention. I have enough points on their points program to get some free food, but my husband doesn't want to go back. I'm not far behind him.

Bill L stated it best. This place is overpriced and underdone....way underdone. Most entrees are over $25 and there is absolutely nothing special about them. It's a chain and they prepare their food that way. Service is a little slow and a bit off. They are not rude or anything but definitely rough around the edges. The only saving grace is the layout of the restaurant and the view of the massive yachts in the dock next door.

We've dined at Chart House restaurants all across the US (San Fran, Philly, Miami, Steamboat, etc.) and Daytona fits in the middle of the pack. We hosted a recent surprise b'day party there (they had us in prior to opening for general clietele) with ~55 guests. The staff was attentive and friendly and, despite that fact that we did not arrive via a yacht, took great care of us and our guests. The have a very nice salad bar and historically someone in our group will go with that alone (plus dessert of course). Their early bird is the best bargain but entree selection is limited and not excetionally flavorful. I'll oft times try one of their specials and it's usually not a problem to give the chef a special request. Drinks are good but it'll cost you ($$) and don't plan on coming away for much less than about $60/person. We've always had good service here with large groups or small, whether crowded or when dining early. It's not the best deal in Daytona but, it is consistent and it does have a great view....be sure to request a table overlooking the river.

Another Amazing Easter dinner at the Chart House. We always start with the salad bar and all the entrees were fantastic. The drinks we good and service always outstanding. I don't mind paying for good food but the prices are a touch out of line. I am sure I will be back because of many amazing meals and memories.

Pros: 1) We stopped in for an imromptu dinner at 7pm on a Saturday for a party of seven and were seated within 5 minutes. 2) Entree presentation was beautiful and everyone was very pleased with the selection and freshness of the seafood. 3) Front of house staff was very welcoming and pleasant. Cons: 1) We were seated on the lower level behind the staircase, so we couldn't even see water or a window from our table. When you go to a restaurant on the water, it probably has something to do with the ambiance of being on the water. 2) It took over an hour and a half to be served our entrees. 3) The price was steep...the check for four people with a 15% tip was $190 (4 entrees + 2 glasses of wine @ $8 each + 2 sodas). That's $47.50 per person. 4) Our waiter was pleasant, but he didn't do a great job of clearing items from the table...empty glasses, empty bread baskets, empty plates. We also sat with empty water glasses frequently. *Side note: Do not order the Fiery Cucumber off of the drink specials menu..this drink was so bad that we actually passed it around the table to see if anyone thought that it was good...no takers ; ) Not even sure how this made it on the menu!

I absolutely love the chart house. The service was very good (our waitress was a little methodical but can't really complain about that). The food is some of the best seafood you can get. I don't like fried fish and crap like that, i love flavorful grilled or broiled fish. My wife had the macadamia nut mahi which was very good, i have the Miso Salmon which was an Asian style salmon wrapped in prosciutto it was superb one of the best preparations i have had for salmon. We had a great view and was a great evening

We dined here with a group of people. The place was packed to the gills. We had a 7:30 reservation, but we're handed a pager and asked to wait in the bar. Forty minutes later we were finally seated. From that point the service was extremely slow, glasses sat empty for long periods, one entree was delivered 15 minutes after the others and was not properly cooked. Then to top it all off, they billed me for an item I didn't purchase. I brought it to their attention and was told it was removed, yet when I signed my CC slip, the total was the same. The manager visited once, but never offered any assistance. Not likely to ever return.

We went to the Chart House for my birthday dinner. The food was very good. I have an allergy to lemon, and they prepared my meal without any lemon. I appreciate their being so accommodating. We will be back to visit again.

I ate here for the first time 3 years ago, and was so impressed. Definitely the nicest restaurant in Daytona at the time, and I didn't even know it was a chain. This time was a different story.... They had a great promotion, dinner for 2 for $50, but I opted to dine a la carte since I didn't love the promo options. Big mistake, bill was almost $180 for 2 people without cocktails. I may not have minded if the food and experience was good, but it was so average. Our waiter was meek, and inexperienced and kept trying to upsell us in a tacky way. It felt like a chain this time. The food was ok. I have a the crab stack app. Living in South FL, I am use to fresh lump crab meat for this dish. The crab was minced in a mayo type sauce, and the dish was decent but lacking something. My entree was macadamia nut crusted mahi. Also, just alright. Desert was a chocolate lava cake. They ask you to order at start of meal to lock you in. It was good, but not exceptional. I'm probably spoiled living in an area with such great restaurants, but Chart House went down hill since my last visit and needs improvement. Still one of the nicest restaurants in Daytona. If you are in town for business, may be worth a try.

The view inside this restaurant is great. It must be what your paying for. The food is good but to me it was over priced. One big let down was this basket of stale and boring dinner rolls that they bring you. I could've went to bonefish and had the same entree $10 cheaper and they bring you this fresh melt in your mouth bread.

I've eaten at Chart House's Daytona Beach location about 4 or 5 times, and it's always a good meal. The view of the water is very nice (assuming you get a table with a view, which I would 100% suggest) and the ambience in general is pleasant. I would say that the food is quite good, so I'm a little surprised by some reviews that werent satisfied with their meal. Is it pricey? Well, yeah, but you should know that before you step into a Chart House, so I dont see how/why people are ripping on the place for that. They have one of my all-time favorite salad bars, which I always add to my meal, and I have to say the service has always been top-notch.

Chart House is a great deal if you can get the happy hour and the early dining special which includes the salad bar. I still think the regular dinners are overpriced.

I hate to be negative about a local establishment, but... We have been there several times for the great deals at happy hour and the views. If you sit at the bar the service is pretty good, but the view is obscured by liquor bottles. If you sit on the patio the view is fab, but the service is dreadfully slow. We were trying to get happy, but when it takes 20 minutes for your server to return with a simple glass of wine then it is difficult to be happy. Again, this did not happen once or twice and on the third try, "you're outta there!" We have not been back since.

I made reservations (well in advance) for a milestone birthday celebration. I spoke to both the manager and the events coordinator prior to the reservation. Neither of them made any comment about a cake and on the day of the event my Mother surprised me with a cake that she wanted to bring with her. I called and spoke to the event coordinator who surprisingly told me that they charge $2.50 PER PERSON to simply "cut" the cake - we could have done that ourselves. I understand that they want to make money on their dessert, but no one ever mentioned a cake to me and this was a birthday celebration after all. Needless to say, we did not bring the cake in and upon the server asking us about a cake (at the end of our meal, which was fine) we explained the situation and all he did was offer us their cake, which made no sense to us. We ended up leaving and going down the street to another restaurant that allowed us to take our cake in and we had it there, along with a complimentary drink for each of us, I might add. Not all of my guests were able to go with us to the second restaurant, and that was disappointing especially when this was a huge birthday milestone. I made a big mistake in having my birthday celebration at this particular Chart House - I wish I'd gone to a local restaurant instead. It left a very lasting impression with ALL of my guests and none plan on returning and all have said that they will spread the word. I will definitely not go there again. One positive note, I must add is that the two servers assigned to our table were outstanding - they were very attentive and no one had any complaints when it came to them. They had no control over the restaurant policy so we do not blame either of them when it came to the cake. Lesson (sadly) learned.

Great service! Ginny was awesome and attentive. Went there for my anniversary and they printed our names on the menu (nice touch). Would definitely go there again; portion size moderate, salad bar very good, cocktails among the best, must have the chocolate lava cake; its Godiva!

Recently visited the Chart House to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Upon reading our menu's we realized that they had printed our names on the very top congratulating us on our special day. What a thoughtful touch. The food, service, and attention to personal detail will definitely keep coming for more. This place is amazing!!! The dessert was to die for too....yum.

I went here with a group of friends recently and while the experience was OK, it was just that. The place itself is pretty nice; we were seated downstairs. It took quite awhile for the food to arrive once we had put our orders in, and there was not enough bread to satisfy before salad arrived. We had the caesar salad, which was pretty average. While it wasn't bad, it's certainly something that would be easy to find elsewhere. After waiting awhile longer, our entrees finally arrived. I had the coconut shrimp, which, I have to say, was very tasty. I would have preferred a larger portion though, or a more substantial side than the spoonful of rice that came with it. The evening eventually ended with a large piece of key lime pie for each of us. The most pertinent thing that I can say about the pie is: stay away. It was far too sweet and rich for any of us to enjoy (and I like rich desserts, but this tasted like I was consuming a can of sweetened condensed milk), and most of it remained on the plate. While the service was good when the waitstaff was around, it would have been nice for them to be present more often. I certainly could have done without the long delays, as well as the high price tag for a mostly average meal.

Overrated and overpriced. $70 per person plus gratuity and I was not blown away. If I'm spending that kind of bread, I better be blown away. First of all, if you're a seafood specialty house, don't tell me you serve fresh Chilean Sea Bass. There is NO such thing unless you're in Chile. Second, fish shouldn't be bathed in sauces or layered in "crusts." Light versions of either are fine. Not so at Chart House. The menu was terribly uninspired. They are trying but they aren't there. Table service is remarkably well done. At least our server seemed to have his act together. Though they need to work on their "team concept." I overheard the server explaining to an adjacent table that they had a new manager and he wanted to "enhance the dining experience" so they implemented team concept of service. That means no trays for plates. All food is brought to your table by hand. That's fine. But they need to work on it. There were a few awkward moments when diners at our table received the wrong plate. We waited an inordinate amount of time for our entrees. When they arrived, the servers were using napkins to hold the burning hot plates. Why do restaurants do this? I'm not sure. Entrees were okay. Not good, not great. Just okay. One filet mignon was ordered rare to med-rare and was medium to medium-well. It was mentioned to the server. No adjustment. My feeling on this, and I'm not one who trolls for comped food, is that the meal should have been removed from the check. The reason she decided to eat it was she didn't want to sit there and wait while everybody else had their dinners and then everybody waits for her to finish. That's not a pleasurable dining experience. I would not return.

I didn't eat here. I made a reservation for 8:30PM, thinking I could have a nice meal with my mom our last night in town. Well, I was sorely mistaken. We showed up to the restaurant at about 8:15. The restaurant was about 1/4th full. The staff politely told us that we would need to wait just a minute while they cleared a table. This was red flag number one considering that there were at least 50 open tables. 50. So they gave us a buzzer and we sat and waited. And waited. And waited. 8:30 came and went. Around 8:40 I not-so-politely asked the hostess what in the hell was going on. She told us they had yet to clear off a table. We walked out. Besides, from the reviews I've read, you're better off eating at the Burger King down the street like we did.

Disappointing evening from a place we had a great experience on a previous visit. It was our anniversary dinner so we were excited for a great night. Once we were seated our server didn't show up to greet us until 10mins had passed. We put our order in and the first course which was our salad took 20mins to arrive, & by then we were getting close to being filled up on bread since we were so hungry. The salad order was a chopped salad but looked more like it was blended in a food processor making the consistency very mushy. It took another 20mins for our entrees to come out. The steak we ordered was a touch above rare when we had ordered it medium. We sent it back and then it came out medium rare with the center of it still raw and uncooked. We sent it back once more but by then we had filled up on all our side dishes. The manager came out to do some damage control and told us he had another steak on the grill for us. It was just very disappointed because we were craving the filet. We told him to put it in a to go box and he ended up bringing out some desert with a candle on it for our anniversary. A bunch of bikers had walked in from Biketober Fest with no reservations, so that explained the bad service, since they were understaffed, but we expected more from a $30 dollar an entree restaurant. If you do go to dine there, I suggest you go early in the evening before they get busy.

I have been dining here since the early 80s, and was always very impressed by the attentive service. Not so this past Sunday. On past visits, there would be a cocktail server, bus/water person, and waiter. Not now, maybe due to economic necessity? Our waiter could have used the help, while he was perfectly nice, and sweet, he seemed to lack in experience and ambition. I at first thought he was the water person, as there was no greeting, just poured water and then asked for a cocktail order. I had to ask if there were specials. No upselling was done, other than presenting us with a dessert menu after overhearing us discussing it. The food was excellent, however. My blackened grouper topped with lump crab and shrimp was crispy on the outside, and moist inside. The crab meat was not fishy tasting like at other places. After asking the waiter ( as no offer was made), I up graded to a baked potato instead of the rice the dish is served with. I highly recommend this, as they know how to do baked taters! Salt crusted and actually baked, not steamed, to a crispy skin. Enough left for lunch the next day! I was a little taken aback to find I had to pay $6.99 to add salad bar to dinner, but you absolutely will not find a better one anywhere. All is fresh, and they even offer caviar and all the trimmings along with their own made marinated mushrooms. To die for! My partner enjoyed her prime rib, tender, tasty, and cooked perfectly. I do feel that they have gotten a little too pricey, however, I will not hesitate to eat here in the future. You should too!

This was a great meal made better by fabulous company. I liked the design of the restaurant and the location in Daytona's marina was gorgeous (I learned all C.H. restaurants are in swanky marinas). Very good seafood and steaks, although my medium rare filet was really just a touch beyond rare. The waitress was more like a high-pressure sales person though, and that was annoying. We kept joking that she would rough us up at the end of the night if we didn't take her recommendations. Still, this is a nice place for a higher end meal in otherwise casual Daytona.

I went here with a friend who enjoys dining out at nice restaurants on special locations. He always spoke highly of it but to be honest I was not impressed with the food. The service by the waiter was 5 star but I didn't care for the food. The ambiance, location, service, all were there but my steak and shrimp meal lacked some flavor. Will have to try again someday at this upscale and pricey restaurant.

The chef saved our meal. Randy came out from the back and personally took the order for my wife and made her meal to order to cater to her allergies and a gluten intolerence. View was nice, staff was pleasant. Possibly overpriced, but when you look for something specific, it's nice to get it. Kudos to Chef Randy there

My boyfriend and I made reservations via open table an hour and half before the time we had to be there and specified a "water view". We got there early to see if we could get seated early which we couldn't and went down stairs to the bar for some drinks while we waited for our table which we were fine with. We waited outside along the beautiful water on inter coastal water way. Right at 9:15pm our pager went off that our table was ready. We went back upstairs to find the hostess waiting to seat us at a beautiful water view. For dinner we had the salad bar which had a great selection of salad items and cold antipasta items as well. I had the dynamite grouper which was encrusted in crab and a wonderful creamy sauce with rice pilaf which was EXCELLENT! My boyfriend had the Miso salmon which was wrapped in prosciutto and came with glazed green beans. Let's just say the dinner was gone off both our plates. Our waiter Bryce was excellent recommending appetizers and entrees. We passed on desserts cause we were full. I felt it was necessary to try the fiery cucumber martini as the previous critic stated the drink was terrible. It is my competitive nature to prove people wrong and low and behold she was indeed wrong. The drink was very good. I would have had two but we were tired and decided to leave. The drink is spicy from the cayenne pepper and the salt around the rim makes for quite a different taste. Usually people go for super sweet drinks which I hate and this drink was perfect and to my liking. The cucumber infused vodka was great. So if your looking to try something different don't listen to the chick before me, just give it a try, what's the worst that could happen? You send it back and they take it off the bill? Our bill came to a little over $100 which wasn't bad for getting two plates from the salad bar two drinks and entrees. The view was great, the staff was great, the food was great, the price was good, what more could you ask for on a beautiful Saturday night? All in all if you staying in the area its worth the travel off the main strip for a great meal with a different setting.

Love this upscale waterfront restaurant! Went with friends for my birthday based on many recommendations. We were seated next to a window (windows all around) and impressed with the amazing views of the waterfront and yacht. The menu was quite extensive with a great salad bar. I had the Lobster Bisque soup, delicious short ribs, fork tender with Cabernet demi-glaze, with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and salad bar. My friends and I shared the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Everyone raved over their dinner and I hope to get the opportunity to dine there again.

Started with a pomegranate martini which was poured well and very smooth and a shrimp and crab meat, avocado and mango stack which was tender, full of flavor and the ingredients complimented each other very well. Hubby had a Bloody Mary which he said was a well crafted and balanced BM and wasn't overly thick and he has the crab bisque which was full of flavor and creamy. Dinner entrees which followed were King Salmon Pesto which had wonderful flavors and a side of fresh asparagus and I had the Dynamite Grouper which just melted and each bite till the end was nice and hot!! Our server Matthew was spot on, great with the food menu and not overly intrusive!! Good meal all around!!!

I was in town for a small conference and a colleague recommended this place. They were from NJ and the Chart House there in Hoboken was superb with great views of Manhattan. Anyways, this place did have great views of the "river" and boat docks. My dinner was pretty decent as the grouper had that crispiness I really like. Dessert was a chocolate cake that was quite large and shared it with my colleague. Now I will have to try the CH in Hoboken!

Tucked down a side street on the inlet side of Daytona Beach Shores, this is a quaint little restaurant. The interior of this restaurant feels a bit dated. It looks like it was a titan among top restaurants from the past, but these days the decor is a little 80's maybe. The patio picture featured on Yelp was one of the things that enticed my family and I. We did end up eating on the patio but it was no where near as nice as the picture would indicate. Tables were kind of haphazardly laid out, unlike the perfectly neat rows in the picture. There were no table covers or plateware. Simply put it looked like a patio that was loosely maintained. That said we still enjoyed the al fresco outdoor dining. A few boats passed by while we sat there which was nice. This is one of the pricier choices for Daytona. The food was of high quality, especially compared to other options. We had Salmon (my first choice in Salmon was on the menu but they were out), stuffed Tilapia, Calamarie and the crab, shrimp avocado stack. Everything tasted fresh but compared to some of the high end dining we do in Orlando, this was definitely a grade below. Service was generally attentive. Price tag for 4 us (two kids) with a couple glasses of wine was around $180. It was a decent experience, but as a foodie not somewhere I'm dying to return to anytime soon.

We came for dinner. My group fell In love with the salad bar. I had the blackened grouper and grilled asparagus. It was moist and packed full of flavor. The grouper was a little over cooked but still ok. It had tough crust of either frozen meat or over cooked crust. The view was very nice also.

I went with a friend and was a bit disappointed at the service. Our waiter didn't come back to refill my drink, I had to ask for other things while he conversed with his friend behind us, when it came time for the bill he tried to sell us on a membership and when I mentioned I had heard about it he replied "well it's ashamed you didn't buy it because you could save money this time" in a snotty manner. When your paying for expensive meals you expect the same caliber of service. I gave it three stars because the food was great.

Very impressed with this place. Great, semi-formal atmosphere with two floors, grand staircase and chandelier right in a marina. Service is very attentive and professional, representing the restaurant's mission of a high quality dining experience well. Food is a little expensive, but very good. The filet mignon, stuffed shrimp and fire roasted halibut (on a bed of asparagus risotto mix) are top notch and highly recommended. Now for the best part. An all you can eat salad bar. A little expensive at just over $15 considering they do not offer meat, but you can add it to an entree for just over $8. All vegetables and ingredients are fresh with many varieties. I went back about five times throughout the night. I would also recommend the chocolate lava cake. Homemade and baked to order--very impressive and a must get for chocolate lovers.

We've come here for four years now all the way from Louisville Kentucky to celebrate my mothers birthday. I don't know where to begin with everything that went bad tonight. The service was horrid, the food was far from mediocre. And the amount of time we had to wait for everything was ridiculously long for such an empty restaurant. And to top everything off Roger, the floor manager not only came out once to our table but twice. My fiancé ordered a NY strip medium rare and when he cut into it, it was obviously medium well. Our waiter promptly took it back to get it fixed but Roger decided to be a complete tool and come to our table an inform us that because of the lighting it's looks more done? Then proceeded to hold the steak up to the light and inform us we were wrong and he was right. Fed up my fiancé caved and kept eating. Roger then comes back to "check-in" and let us know yet again he was right and we were wrong. I ordered the tour de shrimp and they brought me crunchy coconut shrimp and being a nice person and not wanting to wait anymore I kept my mouth shut, now I wish I would have said something. I go to places like chart house because I know what I'm paying for. Great service and great food and a fine dinning experience I pay for. Tonight was a joke and I won't be returning again.

I only ate at the bar here, during happy hour, so I can't speak to the regular dinner fare, but the happy hour specials were very tasty. The alcohol prices during happy hour (from 4:30-7:00 when I visited) were very reasonable and there was quite a selection of appetizers on special as well. Two of us made a light meal out of four appetizers and were quite satisfied. The wait staff was excellent and even brought us more bread for our hummus and spinach dip. I would definitely recommend this for happy hour if you'd like a view of the water and some tasty appetizers.

The food and atmosphere are both great! The problem is that if the staff didn't treat you like you were below them it would be great! These people make you feel absolutely unwanted and for me that is enough. This is the second time this happened during happy hour and I will not return!

Great place to enjoy a special evening with delicious and beautifully prepared dishes. Nice salad bar. Great views of the Halifax River and marina. Best of all is the happy hour down in the lounge 4-7pm every day except Race Week. Super appetizers for 4-7 bucks and drink specials. Love the Calamari, fish tacos and prime rib sliders. One or two of these will fill you up. A 'must do' while in Daytona.

Ok so single handed id say this is the best dinner i have had in a long time. Service was awesome. We where the last people there and pretty much had the place to our selves. We had the oysters which where a lil small but super good and good quality. Scallops where also amazing. I ordered the swordfish meal and shit was delicious! The wine we drank was dope also. I think this memory of this night will stand out forever with me
